NAGRIK · CITIZEN APP

Privacy Policy

How Nagrik collects, uses, shares, protects, and deletes information in the citizen civic grievance application.

Effective date: 1 October 2026 · Android package: com.wardconnect.citizen

Our privacy commitmentNagrik uses resident information to provide civic services and municipal accountability. We do not sell personal information or operate third-party advertising in the app.

1. Information we collect

Nagrik collects the information needed to create and protect your account, identify your municipal jurisdiction, submit civic grievances, and keep you informed about their progress.

  • Account and profile information, including your name, verified phone number, optional email address, profile photo, account identifier, address, and assigned ward.
  • Grievance information, including titles, descriptions, categories, comments, status activity, and resolution feedback.
  • Photos, videos, and other evidence you choose to attach to a grievance or resolution record.
  • Precise location and address information when you use location features or submit a grievance with location access enabled.
  • Notification tokens and basic technical or diagnostic information required to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

2. How we use information

  • Authenticate users and maintain citizen, commissioner, and field-crew accounts.
  • Route grievances to the relevant ward administration and municipal work team.
  • Show grievance progress, discussion, audit history, service-level timelines, and completion evidence.
  • Send account, ward, emergency, dispatch, and grievance-status notifications.
  • Calculate ward-level service metrics and improve reliability, safety, and support.
  • Prevent abuse, enforce role-based access, investigate incidents, and comply with lawful obligations.

3. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal information and Nagrik does not use personal information for third-party advertising.

Information may be visible to or processed by the municipal administrators, commissioners, field crews, and residents who need it for the civic workflow. Public grievance views may display the report, evidence, status, ward, and community activity. Access to private account information is restricted by authentication and role.

We use service providers such as Firebase for authentication and notifications, hosting and database providers for the Nagrik service, and device platform services requested by you. These providers process information only to deliver their contracted functionality. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users, or to secure the service.

4. Permissions and device access

  • Camera and photo library: to capture or select grievance and repair evidence.
  • Microphone: only when recording video evidence with audio.
  • Location: to identify and tag a civic issue location. Nagrik does not require continuous background location tracking for its normal grievance flow.
  • Notifications: to deliver ward alerts and grievance updates.

5. Retention and account deletion

We retain information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain municipal accountability records, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and satisfy legal obligations.

You may request account deletion from Profile > Delete Account & Data in the app or through the web deletion page linked below. A seven-day grace period applies. When deletion is completed, personal profile data is removed or de-identified. Civic workflow records that must remain for public accountability may be preserved in anonymized form.

6. Security

Nagrik uses authenticated sessions, role-based authorization, encrypted network transport, and access controls designed to protect profile, grievance, notification, and evidence data. No electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure, but we continually work to protect the service against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, and loss.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Review and correct profile information from the app.
  • Control camera, microphone, location, photo, and notification permissions through device settings.
  • Request a copy of your current profile information from the in-app privacy controls.
  • Request account deletion and erasure of eligible personal information.
  • Contact Nagrik about privacy, access, correction, deletion, or grievance-redressal questions.

8. Children’s privacy

Nagrik is a municipal civic-service application and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child submitted personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so that we can review and remove it where required.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service, legal requirements, or data practices change. The effective date on this page will be updated when material revisions are published.
